When most people think about Structural Engineers, they think about designing new buildings or responding after something has gone wrong. The reality is that some of the most valuable work we do happens long before there's a visible problem. We'd like to share the Structural Engineer's perspective on how owners and managers can reduce risk, protect occupants, and identify some ways to keep buildings operational, not just standing, when the unexpected happens.
We will touch on the following topics:
· When Should You Call a Structural Engineer?
· Most vulnerable building types
· Non-structural component hazards
· Retrofit opportunities and local ordinances
· Accelerated Building Re-occupancy (ABR) Program
· Functional recovery
